HULKING OUT ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE!!!

Posted April 01, 2013

YES. That guy on the left is LT Jared Veldheer, getting geared up for the Power Running system that Greg Olson is bringing to the Raiders this year. You need POWER for a Power Running scheme, and Jared has committed himself to getting stronger, more agile (and he says faster) for 2013.

While Jared doesn't specifically mention the change in system as his motivation; it's pretty hard to ignore his mention of "strength gains" stemming from his new focus on diet in relation and addition to his workout routine. As the LT, blocking for the run isn't his primary responsibility. Then again if you have a QB who's mobility is about to become a major weapon in the teams arsenal, having defenders worried about being blindsided by the Incredible Hulk will go a long way to keep that QB upright.

THIS is how you get ready for a successful season!

  • So the Raiders gave up two picks to the Seahawks for Flynn, but then they are giving up Carson Palmer for a late pick to the Cardnials? This is after giving up a one and two to get him?? Keystone Cops have better organizational skills than the Oakland Raiders.
  • These are both GREAT DEALS!

When the Raiders unload Palmer's big salary (for a 6th or a 7th rounder), we'll avoid any cap hit OR dead money. If we asked for more than a late rounder (Arizona is our only suitor) we'd have been stuck with him. Better to have him gone.

Flynn...That's just Reggie trying to prove that he did good when he drafted the guy in GB. We got Flynn for a 5th round pick NEXT year and a CONDITIONAL pick in 2015! So if he plays and turns out to be our Messiah, what do I care what he costs? And the 11.5 million he's supposed to make over the next TWO years, is still 1.5 mil LESS than Palmer would make THIS year. The math is not only solid, it's M.I.T. level stellar.

If Pryor starts this year, Seattle gets basically robbed over TWO. This is especially true when you realize that we're a Rolando McClain trade away from replacing next year's 5th round pick. This is keeping in mind of course that the Carson Palmer trade is still in talks. ANYTHING we get would be great! At this point, I'd take a warm Pepsi for him now! So we come out on top with the picks situation as well.

So we just got younger, cheaper, healthier, and more competitive, and it was practically FREE!
  • Free??? It const a first, second, forth, and fifth I believe! Oh and there is no guarantee that a guy who played well in on game will be an improvement. If the Eagles made these moves you would be ripping them a new one.
  • (I HATE the commenting/reply policy!)

    1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th????
Where DO you get your information?!?!?!

Here's a link DIRECTLY to the story on the Raiders site:
    http://www.raiders.com/news/article-1/Raiders-Obtain-Quarterback-Matt-Flynn-from-Seattle/7943cdab-6750-4e15-9f86-098a1fe4e2c9

We got Flynn for almost nothing. I WISH the Eagles would make a move at QB that was this smart!

It's WIDELY believed that the Eagles current back-up QB won't even be on the roster in September because he doesn't fit the system. Other than him we have a practice squader, an Arena leaguer, and Trent Edwards buried under a ton of crap.

Pryor is looked upon as being a potential franchise guy, and Seattle brought Flynn in to be exactly that. He didn't lose his spot as Seattle's starter as much as Russell Wilson WON it. The Raiders have TWO guys they like at QB, whereas the Eagles can't claim ONE.

Look at the bright side. The Raiders just got you Geno Smith.

    YOU'RE WELCOME!!!
  • isn't there a raiders forum that these can go in?
  • So far we're having a FANTASTIC offseason. Wish we could have kept Huff, but other than that I seriously can't complain about a thing! Coaches are telling us what to look for, players are getting geared up to excel, and whether it's coaching hires, trades, or FA signings, every move has been solid and consistent with our new identity.

    This ROCKS!

    Update: April 02, 2013
    Ya gotta love it!

The Palmer trade is complete. We get a 6th rounder THIS year and a conditional NEXT year.

Considering that Palmer (making 20 mil over 2 years) WILL be the Cardinals starter; his playing time will earn us a pretty sweet conditional position (likely a third or fourth rounder in 2014) that will more than likely equal or surpass what we send Seattle in 2015 (provided Flynn even starts).

A s*** ton of upgrading and it was all practically FREE!
