PLAYERS: Ferenc Puskas
Hungary's football federation says it will submit a bid for Budapest to be one of the 13 venues to co-host the 2020 European Championship. Federation chairman Sandor Csanyi said Tuesday that the capital's Ferenc Puskas Stadium, planned to be renovated and expanded by 2017 with capacity for 65,000 spectators, could potentially host the semifinals and final of Euro 2020. The championship will be co-hosted by 13 venues in 13 countries. Bids must be submitted to UEFA by Thursday and European football's ruling body will announce its choices in September 2014. Hungary's national team has failed to qualify for any major international competition since the 1986 World Cup in Mexico and last took part in a European Championship in 1972.
