Hyper rallied to beat Finnegans Wake by a half-length Saturday in the $250,000 Bowling Green Handicap, the opening day feature at Belmont Park. Javier Castellano guided Hyper to a wide but clean trip to notch his 10 win in 21 starts. Boisterous, the 3-5 favorite, wasn't as fortunate. He lost all momentum when forced to slam on the brakes turning for home, nicking the hedge to avoid running up the heels of a rival. He recovered to get third. Hyper, trained by Chad Brown, paid $7.90, $4.20 and $2.30 as the 5-2 second choice. Finnegans Wake returned $5.20 and $2.60 while Boisterous paid $2.10 to show. The time was 2:01.37 for 1 1/4 miles on the firm turf.
