Two points! Throw all context out the window and celebrate the fact the Canucks earned two points in a game. Their slide means that simply winning a hockey game is reason enough to celebrate. It wasn’t particulary pretty, but it was needed. The road trip is over with three points from three games and the Canucks now head into a four game homestand against Nashville, Detroit, Minnesota and St Louis. Hopefully we’ll see a powerplay goal somewhere in there. Love ‘em 1. Boothed The game’s first highlight was David Booth laying out Matt Calvert, who you may remember as the guy who went beastmode in overtime to defeat the Canucks last week. It was not only revenge, it was great to see Booth playing with an edge. He’s a player still trying to find his identity on this roster thanks to to his injury troubles and a run of good play can also help this club. 2. It’s two points Was it legal? I don’t even care. (Photo: Vancouver Sun) I can’t stress this enough. Now is really not the time for looking a gift horse in the mouth. 3. Whatever Raymond did in the shootout It wasn’t the silliest shootout spin-o-rama this week thanks to Kaspar Daugavins, but unlike that attempt Mason Raymond found the net and won the game for Vancouver. Was it legal? I don’t even care. It went in. Hate ‘em 1. Burrows & Luongo There was a strange moment when Alex Burrows found himself sucked into a vortex inside of the Canucks’ net and became stuck to Roberto Luongo. Has Luongo become such a black hole on the team that his wormhole is drawing in his own teammates? Remember, it’s happened before. 2. Boll & Barker Jared Boll found Cam Barker by the boards in the defensive zone and delivered what really, really looked like a headshot if an elbow to head is enough evidence to qualify. Nothing happened, but let’s put on our Tony Gallagher tinfoil helmets and pontificate on the call if the roles were reversed and Boll was a Canuck. Bet it gets at least a penalty. 3. Bobrovosky & the crowd When Sergei Bobrovosky went down late in the game, he stayed down long enough to somehow earn a standing ovation from the crowd that was perplexing to say the least. Is a winning streak enough to endear yourselves to the Jackets faithfully? Apparently yes. It’s not like they’ve had much else to cheer about.
