IT MAY BE TIME TO LET PRYOR PLAY.

Posted August 28, 2012

TERRELLE Pyror should get a chance to start if Carson Palmer struggles early. I loved the Carson Palmer trade. We gave up a lot, but none of th epicks we parted with were guaranteed to pan out. Palmer had already been the Pro-Bowl level QB we've needed since Rich Gannon left. It was a solid gamble. And it may have already paid off.

Pryor has gotten to sit back and watch a PRO. He's seen him prepare, practice and play. He's seen him handle the media. He's had the time to come to terms with the grief that followed him into the NFL, as well as put to bed the controversy that also followed him.

I think if Palmer continues to struggle early (lets say a 1-4 start), Pryor should get to start by Week Five. At that point it's not too late to salvage the season. Give Pryor the pressure of a rescue mission without the baggage of having wrecked things himself.

It's a PERFECT situation to come in to! If he saves the season of course he starts next year, and anything you do with Palmer (back-up to release) is valid. If the season continues to tank, you address Pryor's weaknesses in the offseason, assess your roster, and add weapons. You know, the stuff you'd do anyway. Then you have him and Palmer fight it out next preseason, and unless Palmer blows you away, START PRYOR ANYWAY (since he IS the future).
