The Assembly Call:
For the first time since 2007, Indiana and its fans tasted victory in a postseason game. Not since that year’s opening round win over Gonzaga in the NCAA Tournament had a Hoosier team won a Big Ten Tournament or NCAA Tournament game. Today, Indiana bested Penn State exactly as they should have, 75-58, controlling the game’s final 30 minutes.
Unfortunately, the news is not all positive coming out of Indianapolis tonight.
In the middle of the first half, senior guard Verdell Jones’ knee buckled without contact. Jones fell to the floor screaming in pain, didn’t move for several minutes, and was ultimately carried off the court by teammates. He did not return, and Tom Crean got choked up talking about him immediately after the game, leaving everyone to fear the worst.
Few kids in IU basketball history have deserved to play in an NCAA Tournament game more than Verdell Jones. Hopefully the injury is not as bad as we all fear. It’s a decidedly black mark on what was otherwise a triumphant...

They put together the big late innings again, and won another in comeback style. So far, so good for the Diamond Dogs. But this time victory came at a serious cost as two starters went down with injuries in Mississippi State’s 10-6 decision over visiting Penn State.
