On Monday night, UFC president Dana White announced Jake Shields (Pictured) will make his return to the middleweight division against Ed Herman at UFC 150. Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado hosts the August 11th festivities.

Shields abandoned his 185-pound Strikeforce belt to sign with the UFC in late 2010. The 33-year-old immediately shed 15lbs. to make his big league debut in a welterweight affair against Martin Kampmann.

After collecting his 15th straight victory, Shields went on to drop a lopsided unanimous decision to reigning king Georges St-Pierre at UFC 129. The jiu jitsu specialist then suffered a 53 second TKO loss to Jake Ellenberger in his next outing. Shields managed to avoid the reverse trifecta by posting a unanimous decision win over Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 144.

Herman has rattled off three consecutive wins, with his most recent coming in a 2ndRound submission over Clifford Starks at UFC 143. Prior to his current streak, “Short Fuse” had lost three of four fights.

Although an official confirmation has yet to be made, the lightweight rematch between champion Benson Henderson and Frankie Edgar is expected to headline UFC 150.

Here are the athletes slated to appear in the show:

Thiago Tavares vs. Dennis Hallman

Luiz Cane vs. Yushin Okami

Jake Shields vs. Ed Herman

Frankie Edgar vs. Benson Henderson (UFC Lightweight Champion)
