Found September 05, 2013 on NFL Injury Report:
New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin normally leans towards the conservative side, however that doesn't seem the case in regards to Jason Pierre-Paul. Pierre-Paul who underwent back surgery during the off season is still recovering although Coughlin said he is "full speed ahead". Many within the organization feel like Pierre-Paul's status for week one is more questionable than probable. Without practicing the entire off season conditioning will be an issue and likely limiting his number of snaps if he plays. Pierre-Paul was a Pro Bowler in 2012 after recording 66 tackles and 6.5 sacks. He will look to fill the void left behind from the teams leading tackler Chase Blackburn who departed for the Carolina Panthers and Osi Umenyiora who left for the Atlanta Falcons. The Giants still have plenty of talent on the defensive side and they will look to improve a defense that was ranked near the bottom last season. The Giants failed to reach the playoffs for the third time in four years on the heels of winning the Super bowl during the 2011 season. Look for Eli Manning to have the offense back on track taking some pressure off Pierre-Paul and the defense.
