Fox Sports West:
The Lakers and ownerexecutive Jeanie Buss miss the late Jerry Buss in many ways.
"The Laker way isn't the same because Dr. Buss isn't here," said Jeanie Buss on Thursday, live on ESPN Los Angeles-AM (710) with Mark Willard and Mychal Thompson.
Jerry Buss died in February of complications from cancer.
Jeanie Buss said her father might have been the key to keeping free agent center Dwight Howard, who left as a free agent to the Houston Rockets.
"When it came time to try to convince Dwight to stay, we lost the best closer in the business in Dr. Buss," she said. "Putting up a billboard probably wasn't the right thing, but we have to learn how to do things differently because Dr. Buss isn't here."
The Lakers put up a number of billboards around the city with the message "Stay."
"There was one visit where my dad got to sit down with Dwight, but they would have probably have had a better relationship if my dad wasn't sick," Jeanie Buss said.
Jeanie Buss was a rarity at Lakers games last season, instead of her being a usual fixture at her seats opposite the Lakers' bench.
"I've had a really tough year losing my dad," she said. "I really needed time to just to have some quiet time and not be engaged the way I normally would be with the Lakers."
The outpouring from fans was appreciated by the Lakers and the Buss family.
"It was overwhelming for me and my family to see the extent of the love that people had for him," she said. "I think he would be humbled ... at how respected he was."
The Lakers will remember Buss this season near his Jan. 27 birthday.
"We're going to celebrate Dr. Buss at a game on Jan. 28," said Jeanie Buss. "That will be a time we can bring people together and celebrate his memory."

We're less than two months until the start of training camp which means were roughly a month since Dwight Howard told the Los Angeles Lakers he was leaving them to sign with the Houston Rockets. It was one of the rare times in which the Lakers didn't get their man. It was also the first time since Dr. Jerry Buss passed away that they didn't have one of the most influential...
Thanks to the social networking realm of Twitter, many fans have the shot to get in touch with their favorite NBA players.
One of the drawbacks is that certain people who like to hate on others get that same opportunity as well.
Recently, Dwight Howard got into a Twitter beef with a user by the name of @uHateBre and got the best joke after she mocked him about never winning ring...

August 10 marked the one-year anniversary of the Dwight Howard trade and the official beginning of this current rebuild project. The old Magic team was swept out fairly quickly and a new Magic team was preparing to dawn.
One tool that figured to help the Magic out in this rebuilding effort would have been the very large traded player exception that Rob Hennigan created in the...
Los Angeles Lakers vice president Jeanie Buss thinks if her father, the late Dr. Jerry Buss, was still with us, he might have been able to change Dwight Howard’s decision. “They would’ve probably had a better relationship if my dad hadn’t been sick,” Jeanie Buss said in an interview on ESPNLA 710 Thursday morning. “When it came time to try to convince Dwight to stay,...
Much like Charles Barkley did a few weeks ago, new Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard got out on the dance floor and engaged in some suggestive dancing with an older woman. Recently, Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard was in Aspen, Colorado and judging from the below Instagram video, he appears that he was having a good old time.
Watch as D-12 dances with an older woman who gets into some rather close dance moves:

After the Houston Rockets acquired Dwight Howard from the Los Angeles Lakers, I figured there would be some bad blood between the fan bases.
Recently, Rockets forward Chandler Parsons took a trip out to Los Angeles and during his stay at Hotel LA, his luggage got some classic notes taped to them:

Shaquille O’Neal always like to keep the drama level high. Saturday afternoon, Shaq tossed out bait for the fans and media, by proclaiming himself and George Mikan, the two best centers in Lakers history.
