I’m not quite sure what the Penguins did to upset the hockey gods. Maybe the gods don’t think it’s fair for one team to own two of the top three skaters in the world, and for both to be under the age of 25. Whatever we did, the gods aren’t happy. Apparently feeling that losing six of the team’s top nine forwards wasn’t enough, the gods decided to take another stab at the Pens, this time really digging deep into the depths of the team. Dustin Jeffrey was injured during the second period of last night’s game, and will not play for at least the next two. The healthy centers now left on the Penguins active roster include: Jordan Staal, Max Talbot, and… yep, that’s it. The worst part is, the Pens don’t even have any centers under contract left in the AHL. They’re all playing up here.
