Tim Tebow may not be the prototypical NFL quarterback, but he is still a huge name. Tebow’s following alone makes him an attractive asset to certain teams, which is why he should be able to find a home next season despite being a complete non-factor with the New York Jets this year. But does he still have trade value? According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Jets intend to hold onto Tebow through the start of the new league year in March in hopes of trading him. Since every fan, coach, executive, owner and reporter in America knows New York has no intention of keeping Tebow, I don’t see why any team would surrender a draft pick to acquire him. The one team that is consistently mentioned when discussing Tebow’s future is the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, their new general manager David Caldwell said last month that he “can’t imagine a scenario” in which the Jags would acquire Tebow even if he was released. According to Schefter, one NFL GM expressed doubt over Tebow’s NFL future at any position. “I think his career is over without playing another position,” the GM said. Tebow is accustomed to silencing his critics and overcoming adversity, but it seems like people are down on him now more than ever. Whether its Mark Schlereth getting caught talking about the Teebs on camera or Hall of Famers doubting if he can ever be an NFL quarterback again, the support group is diminishing. Maybe now is the time for a team to take a chance on Tebow. He seems to thrive when the odds are stacked against him.
