Found October 15, 2013 on Pro Football Zone:
Colts owner Jim Irsay told USA TODAY Sports that part of the reason they decided to release Peyton Manning back in 2012 was because they wanted to win multiple Super Bowls. “We’ve changed our model a little bit, because we wanted more than one of these,” Irsay says, flicking up his right hand to show his Super Bowl XLI championship ring. “(Tom) Brady never had consistent numbers, but he has three of these,” Irsay adds. “Pittsburgh had two, the Giants had two, Baltimore had two and we had one. That leaves you frustrated. “You make the playoffs 11 times, and you’re out in the first round seven out of 11 times. You love to have the Star Wars numbers from Peyton and Marvin (Harrison) and Reggie (Wayne). Mostly, you love this.” Then Irsay flicks up his right hand again. This is clearly a shot at Manning. While no one knew for sure if Manning would be able to play again,  Irsay clearly takes a dig at the fact that Manning only brought home one Lombardi trophy. Need NFL Tickets? Loading... Broncos win ugly over Jacksonville; Peyton Manning's crew now 6-0

Poisonous messages laced the Broncos' insatiable quest for peak performance. The toxins first leaked in from the wise guys in Las Vegas who made the Broncos a whopping 26 ½-point favorites on gameday. The given was the Broncos would beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. The question was at what point in the game the Broncos would cover. The Broncos did win. Even if they may have...

Jim Irsay Owes Peyton Manning Some Respect!

“The Return of Peyton Manning to Indianapolis” story that will eat up the media coverage until the game on Sunday Night Football has taken a sour, snippy, soap-opera turn and before it gets better, Jim Irsay has to inset his foot into his mouth. It’s on. It’s sooooooo on now! We still have four days until Peyton Manning will return to his original NFL home as a horse of a...

Manning after win over Jaguars: ‘Never take winning for granted’

The Denver Broncos are now 6-0 after an expected win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.  But it wasn’t easy like everyone thought it would be. The Broncos beat the winless Jaguars 35-19 on Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. “Sometimes, you score a lot of points and people take it for granted,” Manning said via the teams website. “Even people in your own building...

Tommie Harris: Jim Irsay treats Peyton Manning like an ex-girlfriend

Former NFL defensive tackle Tommie Harris had a brief stint with Colts and claims that owner Jim Irsay is treating Peyton Manning like an ex-girlfriend. “I had a chance to be under Jim Irsay when I was with the Colts, and I’ve got to say he was quite different, a different owner,” Harris said on the NFL Network via ProFootballTalk.com. “You know how that ugly girlfriend,...

Bill Polian ticked at Jim Irsay for disparaging Colts defense

Former Indianapolis Colts President Bill Polian seems furious with team owner Jim Irsay for disparaging the Colts’ defense and special teams as a way to backtrack from his “cheap shot” at Peyton Manning. In an interview with USA Today, Irsay seemed to express disappointment over the Colts only winning one Super Bowl with Manning at […]

Todd Helton Says Jim Irsay ‘Just Wants to Be Famous,’ Hopes Peyton Manning ‘Steps on Throat’ (Video)

Someone from outside the football world weighed in on the supposed Jim Irsay-Peyton Manning feud on Thursday, and he was in no way kind to the Colts owner. Recently retired Rockies first baseman Todd Helton, a former college teammate and longtime friend of Manning’s, said on DenverPost.com’s The Press Box that he hopes the quarterback crushes the Colts this weekend in his first...

This Feud is Very Entertaining

Sure I’m a Kansas City Chiefs fan. But I have to admit I really like Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay. He speaks his mind and it’s actually very refreshing. But anyone who interprets his comments about his former employee as anything other than great NFL theatre, just isn’t getting it.

Colts' new "model" still has flaws

Colts owner Jim Irsay’s statements about the Colts of the past and the new model the team has pursued have drawn the ire of many, including Peyton Manning’s current head coach John Fox and former Colts general manager Bill Polian. The media hype surrounding some relatively mundane quotes has spoiled an otherwise exciting homecoming that will see Peyton Manning, the past, battle...

Von Miller: ‘I’m working hard to gain everybody’s trust back’

Von Miller has completed his six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, and now the Denver Broncos linebacker hopes to put his off-the-field issues behind him. “I definitely made mistakes in the past, but it wouldn’t do anybody any good to go back and defend that stuff,” Miller said Monday. “I’ve already served my suspension. I’m working hard...

Jaguars put up good fight in 35-19 loss to Broncos

The winless Jacksonville Jaguars didn't play like a record 27-point underdog, giving the unbeaten Denver Broncos a run for their money before losing 35-19 Sunday. For a while, the Jaguars presented a stiff challenge for Peyton Manning and Co. They had a pick-6 and recovered both of Manning's fumbled snaps, Justin Blackmon reeled in 14 catches for 190 yards and Maurice Jones...

The Chiefs are the most dangerous team no one is talking about

Starting a season 6-0 in the NFL is an impressive feat that usually results in media hype leading into every game. “Will Team X stay unbeaten as they travel to City Y to play Team Y?” With just two perfect teams left in the NFL, one would believe both those teams would garner a large segment on ESPN leading up to each game. If that’s what you’d believe would happen, you’d...

Can Luck be Manning?

The past present and future quarterbacks of the Indianapolis Colts will meet Sunday night at Lucas Oil Stadium and ESPN's NFL Nation spent part of this week asking players if Andrew Luck is the next Peyton Manning.
