NEWPORT, R.I., July 10, 2012 – On Day two at the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, the top 3 seeds advanced to the second round, Americans in competition went 5-0, and John Isner secured yet another match with Frenchman Nicolas Mahut, the man he defeated in an epic 3-day Wimbledon match in 2010. This will be the fourth time the two have met on grass since the 11 hour and 5 minute match at Wimbledon in 2010, which Isner won in the fifth set, 70-68.

“We can’t avoid each other on grass,” Newport’s defending champion Isner joked about his pairing against Mahut.

After the 2010 Wimbledon battle, both Isner and Mahut donated their racquets and other memorabilia from the longest match in tennis history to the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum, where it is now displayed. Isner and Mahut’s fourth meeting will take place on Center Court tomorrow, where it will be the third match on court.
