With his new 5-year, $80 million dollar maximum contract extension, Washington Wizards’ star point guard John Wall looks to have one of the brightest futures for young stars in the NBA. According to the Washington Post, Wall’s contract is the third richest in franchise history. Only Gilbert Arenas and Juwan Howard had more lucrative deals than Wall. With his deal beginning next season the new contract will extend till the 2018-19 season and will put Wall as one of the few point guards to receive a maximum contract, especially as a 22-year-old. Source: John Wall has officially signed a maximum contract extension worth approximately $80 million over 5 years #wizards — Michael Lee (@MrMichaelLee) July 31, 2013 Although Wall missed a majority of the season due to his knee surgery and recovery, the last 49 games he was able to turn one of the worst NBA teams around in the right direction and recorded some of the best stats since he joined the league in 2010. @MrMichaelLee John Wall is 1 of 4 players in @NBAHistory to average at least 16.5 pts, 7.5 asts, 4 rebs & 1.5 steals through 1st 3 seasons — NBA History (@NBAHistory) July 31, 2013 With the Wizards continually trying to restructure their team, Wall’s new contract was a no-brainer.
