GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Since the moment Packers linebacker Brad Jones tackled a 15-year-old fan who had run on to Lambeau Field during Sunday's game, it has been a bigger topic in his life than even Green Bay's upcoming playoff appearance. "Everybody has asked me about it," Jones said Wednesday during his first chat with reporters about the subject. "Probably every five minutes, kind of like now." The fan, who is from the nearby city of Kaukauna, was "completely sober" according to the police report. He is also "no longer welcome at Lambeau Field," police told the Appleton Post-Crescent. After running onto the field, the boy waved his arms around as he ran more than 50 yards during a timeout in the Packers-Lions game last Sunday. Then, as Green Bay's defense began to take the field, Jones saw the fan and slammed him to the ground as security finally began to enter the picture. "I don't understand how 10 security guards can't catch one little kid," Jones said. "Really, I was just cold. It's all good." Even as Jones was bringing him to the ground, apparently it didn't ruin the experience for the boy. "I think he was still laughing," Jones said. "I think I could still hear him. Maybe not. I was just happy to get the game back going again." While Jones' tackle was largely unreported because it happened during a timeout, the entire stadium was made aware of the situation when the public address announcer made it clear fans were not allowed on the field. Meanwhile, the boy was being handcuffed and escorted off the field as fans greeted him mostly with cheers and laughter. Now that a fan video of the hit Jones put on the kid has gone viral, the takedownhas become an Internet sensation. The report from the Post-Crescent added that the boy was charged with unlawful conduct at a public event, released on an 870 bond and due in court on Feb. 14. Even though Jones did record his first sack of the season when he brought down Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford during the game, it was his hit in this video that has gotten most of the attention.
