Found September 03, 2013 on Project Spurs:
PLAYERS: Cory Joseph
TEAMS: San Antonio Spurs
Coming into the 2013 FIBA Americas tournament, the Canadian National team looked far from a dominant force as they had just lost four consecutive games in exhibition play in the Tuto Marchand Cup the week before the Americas tournament began. Fast-forward to the end of Phase 1 of the Americas tournament and the Canadian National team has shown they are a force to be reckoned with, specifically their defense; and one player who has taken a strong leadership role is San Antonio Spurs guard Cory Joseph. Late Tuesday evening, Canada defeated Uruguay in blow out fashion 93 to 67. Though he wasn't the leading scorer in the game, Joseph was the aggressor from the tip as he scored 10 points in the first quarter for Canada. Joseph would finish with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, 7 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 turnovers. One reason for Joseph's increased scoring in the Americas tournament has been his decision to attempt more 3-pointers. He connected on 3-of-4 three pointers Tuesday. With the win, the Canadian National team will finish in second place in Group A with a 3-1 record (7 points). The only team better than them in Phase 1 was the team that defeated them, Puerto Rico (4-0 for 8 points). Of the 10 teams that participated in Phase 1, Brazil and Paraguay will be going home as they both went 0-4. Canada will have one day of rest before beginning Phase 2 against Mexico on Thursday. From there, they will play Venezuela on Friday, the Dominican Republic on Saturday, and conclude Phase 2 with a game against Argentina on Sunday. The points that each team accumulated in Phase 1 will continue into Phase 2. The goal for Canada will be to finish as one of the top 4-of-8 teams by the end of Sunday in order to advance to the Semi-Finals. After Phase 1, Canada is showing they are one of the top teams in play. They finished tied for the second best offense (84 points per game) and finished as the top defensive team (69 points per game) in Phase 1.

Tracy McGrady says with Ginobili struggling in Finals, he could've help

It seems not only former Spur DeJuan Blair thought he could have helped the San Antonio Spurs win the NBA Championship. Apparently another former player on the Spurs bench thought they could have contributed as well.   This time Tracy McGrady told ESPN’s First Take the following.   "When we were in the Finals and Manu [Ginobili] was struggling, I felt I...

Spurs' consistency key to lack of high draft picks

Since the inception of the NBA Draft Lottery, San Antonio Spurs have only drafted in the top-10 a total of three times.  Take a moment and let that sink in. Although those three times earned them three guys turned out to be pretty good picks, David Robinson (1987), Sean Elliot (1989) and this Tim Duncan fella (1997). The Spurs are proof of the value of consistency in the...

Spurs' Cory Joseph battled self-doubt

Ex-Texas Longhorn and former San Antonio Spurs guard T.J. Ford knows what it takes to make it in the NBA. The highs, lows, the battles and just trying to fit in with the right team at a high level is taxing on young players. And this struggle wasn't lost with Cory Joseph. Cory saw himself drafted after one year with Texas, then found himself buried on the bench, playing...

Tracy McGrady: I would not have clashed with Shaq like Kobe Bryant did

Tracy McGrady was one of the most elite scorers in the NBA during his relatively short-lived prime. He averaged 26.1 points per game over an eight-year span with the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets, but injuries sent his career downhill in a hurry. Despite that, T-Mac recently hinted that he believes he was as good […]

You know them, you love them and this time, the San Antonio Spurs loss to the Miami Heat is the topic in this quirky Taiwanese animation. In the animated summary, we see the Spurs portrayed as elderly players where Tim Duncan is riding a scooter on the court running over Heat players and throws his back at the opening jump ball - walker included. And as if that isn't...

Things are looking great for Davis Bertans as he continues to progress from his knee injury. CC video of the day: Spurs-Heat 2013 Finals gets animated Taiwanese style

They are quirky, funny and will always sum of any situation quite succinctly. Of course I am speaking of the hilarious Taiwanese animation. In the latest installment, the Spurs-Heat 2013 Finals is the target and the creators did not hold back. From basically saying the Spurs are old-geezers, showing just how ineffective Manu Ginobili and Chris Bosh were to implying the Heat...

T-Mac's mixed legacy

ChinaFotoPress/Getty Images/Zimbio Last week Tracy McGrady retired and the nostalgia set in. McGrady's career was brilliant in a flash and gone just as quickly as knee injuries and back injuries hampered him these last five or six years and his career limped to a close. For Magic fans, it is a mixed bag. There is plenty of good to remember. Our pals over at MagicBasketball...
