TAMPA, Fla. -- Josh Freeman insists he's a Buccaneer for the foreseeable future. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback denied a CBS Sports report released Sunday that he will likely seek to be shopped before October's trade deadline. Questions have risen in recent days about the relationship between the five-year veteran and Bucs coach Greg Schiano, who has denied a rift between the two. Last Thursday, Schiano revealed that Freeman had missed a recent team photo because the quarterback overslept. The coach also implied that Freeman had been late to other team meetings in the past. "The first I heard of it was literally 10 seconds ago, or right before I walked in here," Freeman said Sunday, after the Bucs' 16-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints at Raymond James Stadium. "With a doubt, I'm a Buccaneer. I'm continuing to prepare and try to go out every week and give my team a chance to win the game." Freeman was asked if others associated with him are game-planning to seek a trade. "If it's going on, I need a new camp, because there is nothing I've heard," Freeman said. For his part, Schiano said he had not heard anything about Freeman wanting to go elsewhere. "It's new to me," Schiano said Sunday. "We've not had any conversations along those lines." Freeman completed 9 of 22 passes for 125 yards with one touchdown and one interception against the Saints. He is 24 of 53 passing for 335 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions this season.
