Former Maryland basketball great Juan Dixon will join seven other Terrapins as Class of 2012 inductees into the University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame.
Dixon of course helped guide Maryland to two straight Final Four appearances as well as the 2002 national championship. Dixon earned first-team all-america honors as well as ACC Player of the Year in 2002. He finished his career as Maryland’s all-time leading scorer. He was drafted with the No. 17 pick in the first round of the 2002 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards and went on to play in the league for seven seasons.
Among those joining Dixon in this year’s class are former women’s lacrosse coach Cindy Timchal, women’s lacrosse great Jen Adams and former football standout Paul Vellano, who also happens to be the father of current football all-american Joe Vellano.
The ceremony will take place at the Riggs Alumni Center on October 5th and tickets for the event can be purchased through the ‘M’ Club.
