College Football Talk:
As you’ll recall from yesterday, TCU coach Gary Patterson was none too pleased about the Horned Frogs’ 40-33 loss at the hands of SMU in Week 5. So displeased, in fact, that the coach went off on a monologue of Conference USA officiating fails, SMU arrogance and burned bridges. “We’ve helped them [SMU], let them…

Well, this is now becoming hysterical (as long as you’re one of the schools jumping ship). Just days after John Marinatto tried to sell us that TCU was staunchly committed to the flailing Big MAC, words pops that the Horned Frogs will bolt to the Big 12 after a vote. That would bring the midwestern conference to 10 schools, and to build it back to the twelve needed for a title...
Today, Big 12 Conference brass cleared the way to potentially add TCU, a maneuver that could honestly save a league that seemed ready to collapse a few weeks ago. The Big 12 fired commissioner Dan Beebe a couple weeks ago, the first step in trying to rehab the league. Instead of just dissolving, the move would counter-act the rumor that Mizzou is jumping to the SEC.
TCU's invitation to join the Big 12 obviously benefits TCU. The Horned Frogs, after years of working toward membership in BCS automatic qualifier conference, are now wanted by two AQ conferences.
With a bigger revenue share from being in an AQ conference, who knows what TCU can do?
But the move involves more than just TCU. It impacts several fronts.
The move says that the...
Talk of conference expansion has ruled college athletics since Colorado and Nebraska left the Big 12 last summer. Ever since the conference shrunk to 10 teams, fans of teams within the Big 12 and those with even the slightest sense of geographic knowledge have been calling for TCU to receive a conference invite. Finally, it appears that those calls have been answered.
Oh, hey Big East, come on in. Have a seat. Coffee? No? We'll get right to the point then: You remember that whole thing where the defending Rose Bowl champion joins your conference next year? Yeah, it looks like that's not going to happen:
TCU has been invited to join the Big 12 Conference and is expected to accept the offer for the 2012-13 school year, college football...
TCU has named women's soccer forward Jordan Calhoun and football long snapper Daniel Shelley as its Scholar Athletes of the Month for September.
San Diego State continues its road swing this week as the schedule takes it to The Lone Star State for matches against TCU and Texas. The Aztecs will take on the Horned Frogs on Friday in a Mountain West match before challenging the Longhorns in their final non-conference outing on Sunday in Austin.
San Diego State handed TCU only its second loss of the season and its first in conference play as it defeated the Horned Frogs in five sets (30-28, 24-26, 25-13, 23-25, 15-11) Thursday evening at the University Recreation Center in Fort Worth.
Leaders of the Big 12 Conference cleared the way Thursday to add TCU, a move that would bring in a rising program and potentially shore up a league that seemed ready to fall apart just a few weeks ago. The Big 12's presidents and chancellors voted unanimously to authorize negotiations with the Horned Frogs, who play in Fort Worth, Texas, and boast the defending Rose Bowl champion.
By Stefan Stevenson San Diego State coach Rocky Long isn't ready to scoff at TCU's defense, despite the Horned Frogs allowing 27.8 points and over 400 yards a game.
The Big 12 have invited TCU to join the conference, now it's up to the Horned Frogs to decide.
Just as quickly as the Big East lost Syracuse and Pitt to the ACC, it appears the conference will also lose TCU to the Big 12. News broke this morning that Big 12 presidents and chancellors decided to extend an invite to TCU, and all signs point to the Horned Frogs accepting that invite. The…
