The Atlanta Braves did the right thing sending Jair Jurrjens to the minors.
His mind isnt in the right place, his velocity is waning and his confidence has deserted him. He needs time to fix whatevers wrong, because the Jurrjens that weve seen this year is not the Jurrjens weve seen in the past.
Its incredible to think how far he has fallen since the first half of 2011, when Jurrjens was as close to unbeatable than any Braves pitcher. Ever.
And 10 months later, Jurrjens is making a flight across the country and a trip to Triple-A Gwinnett. Its a move warranted by his dismal start.
Jurrjens is 0-2 and couldnt hold big leads in his other two starts, games the Braves won. He hasnt recorded an out past the fifth inning this season, which isnt surprising considering his 9.37 ERA.
Opponents are hitting .411 against him after he gave up nine hits and five runs in a 7-2 loss to the Dodgers on Monday, a performance that lasted just 50 pitches and prompted his immediate demotion.

As reported by Atlanta Braves beat writer for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Braves RHP Jair Jurrjens has been optioned to triple-A after last night’s loss to the Dodgers. He’s 0-2 and hasn’t looked good at all this year or even during Spring Training. Updates and reactions to come as the day goes on.
The Atlanta Braves have optioned struggling pitcher Jair Jurrjens to Triple-A Gwinnett after the 2011 All-Star lasted only three-plus innings in a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Jurrjens, who led the Braves with 13 wins last season despite two trips to the disabled list, is 0-2 with a 9.37 ERA in four starts. He retired only seven of the 17 Dodgers he faced Monday night, including...
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Atlanta Braves have optioned struggling pitcher Jair Jurrjens to Triple-A Gwinnett after the 2011 All-Star lasted only three-plus innings in a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

After last night's 7-2 loss to the Dodgers, the Braves demoted starting pitcher Jair Jurrjens to AAA Gwinnett.
Jurrjens, who was an All-Star last season after a fantastic first half of the season, just hasn't been good since the break last year. In the second half of last season, he made just seven starts while dealing with a knee injury, and had a 5.88 ERA in 41 1/3 innings...
With Tim Hudson set to return from the disabled list next week, the Braves have opted to send down Jair Jurrjens, who made last year’s NL All-Star team, rather than prospect Randall Delgado.
Despite Jurrjens’s history as a solid starter, this seems like the right decision. The biggest reason for not wanting to send Jurrjens down at this point was to potentially hold onto some...

After an excruciating loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Braves announced late Tuesday night that Jair Jurrjens had been optioned to the Braves’ Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett.
Jurrjens pitched 3 innings, giving up 9 hits, 1 walk and 5 earned runs against the Dodgers who held the best record in the National League as of Wednesday.
When healthy, Jurrjens has put up...
Will Jair Jurrjens be able to get back on track in Triple-A Gwinnett?
Barring anything unexpected, right-hander Tim Hudson should be back in the rotation this weekend when the Braves host the Pirates.
The plan since spring training has been that rookie right-hander Randall Delgado would be optioned to Class AAA Gwinnett when that happens. But because right-hander Jair Jurrjens has been pedestrian at best -- 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA in his first three...
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Juan Uribe tied a career high with four hits and drove in three runs, and Chris Capuano pitched out of trouble for seven innings to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 7-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.
A.J. Ellis had a pair of RBI singles and Capuano (2-0) allowed a run, six hits and four walks while striking out five, helping the Dodgers improve...
We all knew the day would come when we have to seriously think about re-signing BMac. I'll never forget the day his first big contract was signed in 2007 -- I was in Florida with my family and I got a call from a friend: "THE BRAVES JUST SIGNED YOUR FAVORITE BABYFACED CATCHER TO A LONG CONTRACT!" Me: "SERIOUSLY?!!"
2013 seemed so far away at the time, and...
