San Francisco 49ers DT Justin Smith was a full go at practice, and not among the five players wearing black non-contact jerseys. That's a good sign Smith and the 49ers. He's not shying away from contact and says he's close to being ready when the team hosts their first playoff game on Jan. 12th. "He looked pretty good," center Jonathan Goodwin told the San Jose Mercury News. "He did some things today, and he was in the drills." Thursday was his first practice since he partially tore his triceps tendon against New England on Dec. 16th. He's alaso dealing with a bone spur in his left elbow. Smith missed the final two games of the regaular season, and his absence showed. San Francisco fans as well as the team are hoping Smith is back and fully effective when Jan. 12th rolls in. They've seen the defense without him, and it doesn't look pretty. "He's all about the team," Left offensive tackle Joe Staley said. "I know Justin; he wants to play. He will play. He'll give it his all. He's only missed two games in 12 years, so the guy has played through pain in his life. If he can go out there and help our team, he'll do that." var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
