PLAYERS: Carl Soderberg
TEAMS: Boston Bruins
from Kerry Fraser of TSN, I have no 'qualms' in telling you that Tim Thomas deserved a match penalty under Rule 60.4 for the one-handed tomahawk swing with his heavy goalie stick paddle to the neck of Bruins forward Carl Soderberg. Regardless of the score or time in the game, or whether the blow was in retaliation for Thomas being contacted on the shoulder by Soderberg's stick inside the blue paint, a match penalty was warranted based solely on the degree of force and especially the location of the blow with the goal stick to the neck of Soderberg. While no apparent injury resulted to Soderberg this was a very dangerous play that should be addressed by the Player Safety Committee. At the very least, a substantial fine should be levied to Tim Thomas even if that Committee does not deem the stick swing to be worthy of a suspension. continued and if you missed the 'swing', watch it here.

Balanced Scoring Key To Boston Bruins’ Impressive Winning Streak

The Boston Bruins are built on a foundation of a talented blue line and consistent goaltending, but it’s been the team’s offensive depth that has carried the Original Six club on a four-game winning streak. Boston defeated old teammate Tim Thomas and the Florida Panthers 6-2 at TD Garden on Tuesday night. Milan Lucic led the way with two goals as one of 11 Bruins who tallied...

Boston Bruins' Second Line Dominates in 6-3 Win Over Islanders

Just over a month ago, people were wondering what was wrong with Brad Marchand, as he was mired in a season-long slump, scoring just five goals in his first 35 games.  Now people are wondering how much longer Marchand's hot streak is going to last. Marchand struck for a goal and three assists, while equally-hot linemates Patrice Bergeron and Reilly Smith each added a goal and...

Good Puck Support Helps Create Dougie Hamilton’s First-Period Goal (Video)

After falling behind 2-0 to the Montreal Canadiens in the first period of Thursday’s game, the Boston Bruins got on the scoreboard with a goal from defenseman Dougie Hamilton. Good puck support along the wall in the attacking zone, winning 50-50 puck battles and being patient helped create the scoring chance for Hamilton, whose shot from the point found its way past Canadiens goalie...

Lucic leads Bruins to rout of Panthers

Tuukka Rask and Tim Thomas knelt down on opposite sides of the center line at TD Garden, stretching out the hamstrings and chewing the fat.And why not?  After all, Rask was Thomas' protege as a rookie, and the two formed a bond that has withstood the ugliness of Thomas' departure from Beantown last season, leaving the crease all to the big Finn - but now the former...

Montreal Canadiens’ Speed Key To 4-1 Victory Over Boston Bruins (Video)

The Montreal Canadiens aren’t a great matchup for the Boston Bruins because of their speed and quickness in all three zones. There ain't no party like a Bruins goal party. BRUINS WIN!

To quote Ray Gillette, the Bruins beat the Panthers like the red headed step child of a rented mule. It wasn't even fair. The Bruins were all like "Sorry you have such an AWFUL team in front of you Timmy, but thems the breaks!" The assault that happened after was borderline illegal. Over the past few years the Bruins have had a tendency to play down to their competition...
