Monday was Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner’s day to spew big words about the upcoming college football season. On Tuesday, it was ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit’s day in the sun. The former Ohio State quarterback spoke at the Greater Columbus Sports Commission’s yearly town hall meeting and, according to Kyle Rowland of Eleven Warriors, told the crowd that Ohio State was going to win the Big Ten and head to Pasadena, the location of the 2013-14 BCS National Championship.
“Make your reservations because we are going to Pasadena.”
Gardner guaranteed a win against Ohio State in Ann Arbor on November 30. Essentially, Herbstreit is saying that Gardner is wrong because losing that late in the season would likely take Ohio State out of the national championship discussion. Recent history has been on Ohio State’s side as they have won nine of the last ten games between the two schools.
I just think it’s cute that Gardner and Herby are making guarantees. It’s all about the public relations machine.
It’s June guys. Save the cute guarantees until at least August.
