Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Chris Kreider (ankle/bone chips) was among 14 Rangers on the ice this morning for an optional practice before the team flies to Tampa.
Here's Kreider on his injury...
“It’s better than it was, there’s definitely improvement, it’s day to day. It’s hard to say, we didn’t do a ton of explosive drills. It’s hard to say, it’s probably better than it was."
Pat Leonard at the Daily News adds that Kreider will be joining the team on the flight, however, he is not likely to play.
...man this team could really use a shot in the arm with the return of a healthy Kreider. Hopefully he'll be able to give the Rangers the same jolt as in the playoffs last year when he hopefully returns next week.
Here are the 14 players who attended the optional practice Kreider, Pyatt, Stepan, Hagelin, Rupp, Boyle, Ferriero, Asham, Halpern, Bickel, Lundqvist, Biron, Gilroy, Eminger.
Leonard adds that the players with heavy minute...

Is it time for the Rangers to draft a goaltender?
The Rangers are blessed with the King but shouldn’t assume he’s around forever.
The Rangers are in an enviable situation with Henrik Lundqvist manning their net at an age where he can continue playing at a high level for a long time behind what should be a contender for several seasons. The immediate future in net is bright, but those who think the club should sit back and...
The end of the tough seven game stretch
Rob Carr/Getty Images
The Rangers opened the season 3-4-0. Sure, it’s not the start everyone had envisioned, especially with both Ryan Callahan and Chris Kreider out with injuries, but it’s only marginally worse than last year’s 3-2-2 start through seven games. That start included four games against non-playoff teams. This year the Rangers played the Penguins twice, the Flyers...
Callahan May Not Be Out of the Woods
After hearing the news that Ryan Callahan will only miss 10 - 14 days with a shoulder subluxation, Rangers Nation exploded into obvious rejoice. However, there was one person who sent out a word of caution...

Does Mashinter Deserve a Call-up?
Since the Rangers obtained Brandon Mashinter from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Tommy Grant, he has done nothing but impress for the CT Whale.
The 6' 4" Mashinter has 2g, 4a in his seven games with the Whale and has been more than willing to drop the gloves when necessary, as seen here in last night's 5-4, OT loss to Bridgeport (2:15 mark)...

Perfect Home Stand Would Erase Rangers' Early Struggles
Much of the fan base was in the tizzy about how the New York Rangers opened the lockout-shortened season and rightfully so. They looked out-of-sync, a step slow and, at times, completely lost. Not the winning brand of hockey we've grown accustom to here. And not the type of hockey that will get you a spot in the playoffs for a chance to win a Stanley Cup that everyone has predicted...
Rangers 3, Lightning 2
Rick Nash scored a go-ahead goal early in the third period and the New York Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 on Saturday night.
The Rangers took a 2-1 lead on Nash's second goal of the season, coming at 3:04 of the third period. He skated in from the right wing boards, eluded Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman and jammed the puck past goalie Mathieu Garon.
Carl Hagelin...
Video: Torts, Players Talk Cally Injury
These videos were filmed before Ryan Callahan injury news was released...
...love seeing Torts staying so positive and confident about his team despite losing Callahan.
...while I'm just as guilty as the next guy for criticizing Torts on a multitude of issues, I can say that this guy cares about the success of the Rangers organization and his players. It's why...
Stability and Consistency Lead Rangers to Victory
When it comes to winning a hockey game in the NHL, teams must be consistent in their play and have some stability whether it is with their offense, defense or goaltending.
Tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the New York Rangers got the stability in goal they needed from back-up Martin Biron (30 saves) and consistently put pucks on net in a 3-2 victory in Tampa Bay for their...
Backup goalie Biron guides Rangers past Lightning
TAMPA -- It took a backup goaltender, of all things, to finally slow down the Tampa Bay Lightning and to settle down the New York Rangers. Martin Biron made 30 saves behind a defensive effort that left difficult-to-impress head coach John Tortorella "really happy" Saturday, and the Rangers held on for a 3-2 win that broke the Lightning's five-game win streak. Tampa...

Time to Push the Panic Button?
Can everybody just take a deep breath?
Yes, 3-4-0 is not the way you want to start a season, but give the Rangers some slack. They have had to begin their year with six games against three teams in the top-five in the Eastern Conference.
New York played the Bruins, Flyers and Penguins twice with a contest versus the Maple Leafs in between.
Now, this isn’t to say that the Blueshirts...
