Panthers Sign Filip Kuba

The Panthers were a major player during last year’s free agency frenzy and they decided to get involved this year signing Filip Kuba. This means Jason Garrison will be finding a new team for next season, but this is a pretty good signing for the Panthers. Kuba had a solid year for the Senators last [...]

Defensemen Joe Corvo, Filip Kuba change teams

Decent offensive defensemen can play a long time in the NHL. Sunday brought more evidence of this as veteran Joe Corvo returned to Carolina as a free agent and Filip Kuba returned to Florida.Kuba got nice money: two years for $8 million. He will turn 36 this season, but he is coming off a stellar 32-point, plus-26 campaign for Ottawa. Kuba was a great influence on young Erik Karlsson...

Panthers sign Kuba

Free-agent defenseman Filip Kuba signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Florida Panthers, reported, based on Twitter from his agent, Rich Evans. UFA of the Day: Part Deux! Zenon Konopka

It’s your lucky day! Two! Two UFA of the Day posts today. They both deal with toughness, the first was Brandon Prust, now we turn our attention to Zenon Konopka. Name: Zenon Konopka Age: 31 Size: 6’0″, 209 Lbs Why the Canucks might want him: If the Canucks target Zenon Konopka it wouldn’t just be for his ability to punch people in the face. With Konopka you not only get that...

Matt Carkner To The Avalanche? No, Long Island

This is probably one of the more interesting stories of the day. A few hours ago Colorado posted on their Twitter that they had agreed to terms with John Mitchell and Matt Carkner but Carkner’s agent came out and said no deal was reached and he is now a New York Islander having signed a 3 year [...]

Senators trade Foligno to Jackets for Methot

The Ottawa Senators moved to fill a void on their roster left by the loss of defenseman Filip Kuba in unrestricted free agency by acquiring defenseman Marc Methot from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Nick Foligno on Sunday. Methot, 27, had seven goals, 44 assists and 208 penalty minutes in six seasons with the Blue Jackets. He has three years left on his contract...

Panthers get Clemmensen, Kuba on 2-year deals

Goaltender Scott Clemmensen is staying with the Florida Panthers, and defenseman Filip Kuba is returning after more than a decade away. The Panthers announced a two-year extension for Clemmensen on Sunday, their first official move in the NHL's free agency period. Not long afterward, the team announced another two-year deal with Kuba - a 1995 draft pick by Florida who last played...

Reviewing Ottawa's First Day of Free Agency

There was no Ryan Suter. There was no Rick Nash. There was no Zach Parise walking through that door. For anyone who was expecting the Ottawa Senators to make a splash through free agency or a trade, you probably went to bed last night disappointed that the organization didn’t improve itself exponentially over the course of one day. It’s the dreadfully naïve and unrealistic...

via Darren Dreger tweet, Konopka agrees to 2 year contract with Minnesota Wild.

So we can put the Rick Nash hysteria to bed...again.Also interesting to hear from Sylain St-Laurent that Jesse Winchester may be moving on:  Jesse Winchester devrait aussi quitter Ottawa dans les prochains jours. Plus de place pour lui chez les #Sens. — Sylvain St-Laurent (@Syl_St_Laurent) July 1, 2012
