Found October 09, 2012 on NBA Injury News:
The Los Angeles Lakers, already battling injuries and players returning from injuries, got some bad news yesterday.  The team announced that forward Jordan Hill has a herniated disc in his back.  He had experienced pain after the team's first preseason game and went for further evaluation. According to Ben Golliver of CBS Sports, the team has not indicated what Hill's course of treatment will be or how the injury will affect him going forward.  They simply indicated Hill would be re-evaluated in a week.  Golliver says Hill had back pain after the team's preseason game against the Golden State Warriors and used a heating pad. Hill was acquired at the trade deadline and was signed to a two year extension.  The deal is reportedly worth $8 million, and the team hopes Hill can be a big contributor.  Hill played 20 minutes in the preseason debut and scored ten points.  He showed last season with the Houston Rockets that he can be a major contributor.  The Lakers hope he will be able to compliment a front court that will include Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard. If Hill has to miss any extended time in the regular season, it will be disappointing for the Lakers.  They are a team that seems to be getting older (but not necessarily worse), and Hill brings youth to the floor.  He is entering third full season in the NBA.  He has averaged 5.3 points per games and 4.2 rebounds per game in his career.  However, he has the ability to average even more.
