While the Los Angeles Lakers now know who their next head coach will be, they may not know who their point guard will be.  Steve Blake, the backup to Steve Nash, suffered an aggravation of a lower abdominal strain in yesterday's win over the Sacramento Kings.Helen Elliot of the Los Angeles Times reported the injury during last night's game.  However, the extent of the injury is not clear.Lakers' Steve Blake returns after getting treatment for abdominal strain...and yes i nearly typed Rob Blake.— Helene Elliott (@helenenothelen) November 12, 2012Blake has been filling in ever since Steve Nash injured his leg.  Initially diagnosed as a contusion, Nash actually suffered a fractured fibula.  He is working his way back, but his exact return date is not yet known.  Blake, though, may have to miss time due to his own injury. He returned after initially injuring his abs, but was forced from the game for good in the third quarter.  The strain is not new, but Blake re-aggravated it during last night's game.  Brian Kamenetzky of ESPN Los Angeles believes the injury will cause Blake to miss time, but Blake will wait and see how he feels."It's something I've been dealing with for the last couple games. I've been trying to push through it, but tonight it was hurting pretty bad," Blake said. "I think I can try to play through anything, but I don't know if it would be good for me to try and play through it because it will probably never heal. It's one of those things where we have to make a decision."Blake has averaged 5.1 points per game and 3.4 assists per game.  His play has helped keep the Lakers afloat while they deal with Nash's injury among others.Follow @hoopsinjurynews!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://www.nbainjurynews.com//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs"); var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-34100676-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? Phil Jackson Seen In Los Angeles ‘Sporting a Mustache,’ Proving Coverage of Lakers Debacle Has Gotten Out of Hand

We can understand the excitement at the prospect of Phil Jackson returning to the bench for the Lakers. The fastest way to exorcise the failures of the recent past is to try to recapture the greatness of the not-so-recent past, and Jackson and the Lakers had a lot of success during their on-again, off-again marriage from 1999 to 2011, even if the marriage was not always a serene...

Mike D’Antoni used to look like he was having so much fun. When his teams in Phoenix were operating at a frenetic pace offensively and playing better than advertised defensively, the coach often seemed to have a bemused smile on his face, even after most losses. The man could coach, everyone knew it, and everyone seemed to appreciate it. Then D’Antoni went to New York and the...

Day 13: LA Reunite Nash and D’Antoni

Contrary to what we all expected would happen, the Los Angeles Lakers sign Mike D’Antoni to a four-year deal and NOT Phil Jackson. Now from a Laker-fan standpoint this is a tad of a letdown as Jackson has had a storied history with the franchise. From a fantasy basketball perspective, however, this news should make Laker players (especially Nash) owners feel like they were drinking...
