Matthew Stafford’s heads-up dive across the goal line to complete a stunning win over Dallas wasn’t the best thing to happen to a Detroit Lion on Sunday. Nor was Calvin Johnson’s 329-yard receiving performance. Nope, the Lion who had the best day was Nate Burleson. You remember Nate. He was the one who landed on our list of all-time most embarrassing off-the-field sports injuries last month by breaking his arm in a car accident caused when he attempted to prevent a pizza from falling off his passenger seat. As it turns out, Burleson’s willingness to sacrifice his body for the good of the ‘za paid dividends. The wide receiver announced on Twitter Sunday that DiGiorno offered him a free year’s supply of pizza. Because, ya know, it’s not delivery. It’s DiGiorno. So he doesn’t have to worry about driving to the pizza place and breaking his arm on the way home. Huge S/O to Digiorno Pizza for the year supply of free pizza and the gifts! #ItsNotDeliveryItsDiGiorno… http://t.co/58H6F93luk — Nathaniel E Burleson (@Nate13Burleson) October 28, 2013   It’s probably a good deal for both sides. I have yet to meet a person that would turn down free pizza for a year. And it’s not like we’re regular DiGiorno bloggers, so it’s a pretty savvy move by the company to get their name out there. The amount of pizza consumed by Burleson isn’t likely to exceed the amount the company saves in the way of free advertising. PS — Hey guys, I can at least get a month of free pizza for pumping this up, right?
