Big East football has given us very little to discuss this year on-the-field. The #22 Cincinnati Bearcats are the only conference team ranked in both polls, and the whole thing is one big glob of mediocrity. Off-the-field is a different story. There’s been a ton of media coverage of teams leaving the league, and the Big East scrambling for replacements. The University of Louisville (4-4, 2-1) has decided not to bring their cheerleaders, dance team or mascot to Morgantown, WV for Saturday’s game at the home of the #24 in AP Poll West Virginia Mountaineers (6-2, 2-1). Why? UL has genuine safety concerns about the West Virginia fans. They are scary. And once again BE football is making news for something other than the game itself. So far, it’s the only road game that the Louisville Cardinals squads are staying home for this season.
