Offseason Update: Doug Gottlier Is Still A D-Bag

We’re now just two weeks away until the Louisville Cardinals kick off the 2013 football season. With the AP Poll being released on Saturday, we’re officially in waiting mode. Louisville is ranked No. 9 in both polls which is their highest preseason ranking in school history. I like to think most Cardinal fans are realists and are aware that there are plenty of people out there...

Louisville faces challenge of high expectations

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Three years ago only seems longer than it was for Louisville football. The Charlie Strong era began with a thud; a 23-16 loss to rival Kentucky at home in the first game at renovated Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium was not how the Cardinals faithful envisioned things going. Single games can be defining moments, however. For Strong and his fledgling program, it was just...

University of Louisville offensive coordinator Shawn Watson has played a huge role in quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s epic transformation over the past two years. Watson and Bridgewater have formed a special bond that has been well documented. Louisville fans aren’t the only ones who noticed Shawn Watson’s success as the offensive coordinator after being given the job once...

Rick Pitino’s top target, Trey Lyles, won’t be the only big man taking an official visit to Louisville at the end of the month. Chinanu Onuaku, a 6-foot-9 center from Upper Marlboro, MD., received a scholarship offer from Coach Pitino last week. On Wednesday afternoon he scheduled an official visit to Louisville. Onuaku will be on campus August, 31. At this point, Lyles and Onuaku...

Fan Day mostly business for Louisville football

While the turnout was probably better than the average, Fan Day definitely loses some of the personal touch when youngsters aren’t able to seek autographs or come face to face with their favorite University of Louisville football players. Strictly a business session, with few of the extras normally present at Fan Day. Only one bouncy attraction that wasn’t attracting many kids...

Fan Day/Open Practice Recap

Thousands of fans gathered at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium on Sunday for the program’s annual fan day. Instead of the usual autograph signing, this year there was an open practice. Sunday’s practice was similar to the two open practices a couple of weeks ago, however this time it was at the actual stadium instead of the practice field. The players weren’t tackling and didn’t...

Three Keys To The American Conference

With Charlie Strong and the Louisville Cardinals looking to make a splash on the national scene and crash the BCS party once again, we haven’t spent a whole lot of time talking about or previewing the American Conference. A lot of this probably has to do with the fact that the Cards will only be in this league for one year and its frankly not a conference that is worth talking...
