Phil Jackson confused many casual fans on Twitter, with the Tweet below, at the end of the 1st half of the Michigan vs. Louisville National Championship game.
Mo is a *****
— Phil Jackson (@PhilJackson11) April 9, 2013
There is a reason Phil Jackson has 11 rings. The “MO” that Jackson was referring to was MOmentum. It was something the Michigan had with a little under three minutes to go in the 1st half. They were playing brilliantly, up 12 being led by Spike Albrecht of all players while Trey Burke was in foul trouble.
Then Luke Hancock happened.
But, four treys in a row.
That comfortable lead that Michigan thought they would have going into the 2nd half, was trimmed to one point. Michigan looked like a boxer who was winning easily, then got caught with a haymaker at the end of a round. They never really fully recovered from the blow.
In the 2nd half, Louisville crushed Michigan on the offensive glasses (11 to 1) and Peyton Siva played with the urgency of a senior knowing this was his last game.
Some clutch shots from Siva, Dieng and Hancock held off a late charge by Trey Bourke and the Wolverines. In the end, Michigan will look back on those four 3s by Hancock and their inability to grab a defensive board, as the reasons just like the Fab 5 before them who were all in attendance, they could not bring home that ring.
Congratulations to Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals on a well deserved National Championship.
