Lurie take a GQQD look at the Ravens. Thats what a real football team is supposed to look like.

Posted February 04, 2013

There you have it eagle fans a roadmap to the superbowl.  One that I have watched develop and cultivate.  What you saw yesterday is what you see evryday with the Ravens.  Thats how they play year in and out.  It just so happens they won the Lombardi thi year.  This team has an identity and plays to its historical strengths.  Every year they know what the need.  A strong run game, physical & big defense , steady play from the QB and an attitude.  It seems like they do it every year . even in off years.  They bring 60 minutes of effort.   The Eagles need to capture their historical identity.  Meaning they literally have to go back to the 60's , 70's, 80's and 90's and try to reproduce those eagle teams.  This owner has taken this team way off course with the type of play the eagles are trying to commit too.    The Eagles have experimented too much and need to go back to big physical punishing defenses.  They need to rid themselfves of small defensive ends and get 290 pders on the edges.  They need a physical secondary period.  No more finesse or character guys.   On offense they need a QB with a cannonand big WR that can go vertical.  They need a TE that get physical in the middle of the field.  I think they have the RBs.  Lets hope Kelly can rebuild the identity quickly.  there are no more 5 year plans in the NFL.  You try to grab that trophy every year.

  • I disagree with you there. I have interaction with players , friends of players, coaches and so on. I listen to sports radio and know quite a bit about the Ravens. Art Modell was eulogized at my synogogue. I know whats up with them.
  • the better team won

  • You don't contradict yourself at all here, do you? You state the Eagles need to try to win every year but you want them to stick with one of the biggest reasons why they haven't come close to sniffing the Lombardi for the last two years...Michael Vick. This is just one of the reasons why your chest pounding here doesn't fly with me. Baltimore is a good team, no doubt about it but the Eagles were close a few years ago and I'm sure that Lurie will give Kelly whatever he WANTS to TRY get this team back to the Super Bowl. Hopefully that starts with getting rid of one of the main roadblocks to winning...Mike Vick.
  • How many times have I told you i dont care if they keep Vick. Just dont give me a scrub like Foles and tell me to wait a year till a QB is found. IIll take Vick over Foles. You want Foles over Vick. So what? Get rid of both of them. Id ont care. Just have a qualified QB
  • ...and every time you state that you come back with a post whining that it needs to be Vick so don't tell me you don't care. Let's discuss this as if it were the Ravens since that is what you seem to understand. The Ravens had to go through Trent Dilfer(who is known in the NFL as the worst QB to win a Super Bowl and didn't even start until halfway through the season in 2000), Vinny Testaverde, Tony Banks, Elvis Gerbac, Jeff Blake, Anthony Wright, Eric Zeier, Chris Redman, Stony Case, Cunningham for a few games, Steve McNair, Scott Mitchell, Troy Smith and Kyle freakin' Boller for 40 plus games before drafting their franchise quarterback in Flacco. The Eagles need to continue to look and develop a quarterback and if that means losing a few games in the process then oh well. Of course your argument would be that much stronger if you could guarantee that Vick can get this team back to it's winning ways and back to the playoffs but unfortunately that doesn't happen when he is on the bench due to injury or in the games taking sacks and turning the ball over.
  • Another distortion. Fact is half of those guys you mentioned got starts because of injury. Plus thats over a 20 year period.
  • It's actually 17 years, hollywood...and you say I distort the FACTS but you strengthen my point by pointing out the years. Take away the 5 years that Flacco has been starting and the Ravens spent their first 12 years in quarterback hell looking for their guy. The wonderful franchise you are trying to shove down all our throats took a dozen years till they were settled at the most important position in football yet you insist the Eagles need to have that guy or go with Vick in year one of their new coach's era. You my friend, are nothing but a biased contradiction! It is not unusal for teams to look for their man when there isn't a sure fire franchise quarterback on their roster yet you would rather the Eagles tie themselves up to a player scheduled to make 16 million this year and have him hinder their search. Brilliant, hollywood...brilliant!

I'm going to address your comment down below up here because I wasn't able to comment on more than one reply on this post yesterday. What does your comment about Baltimore players probably not wanting to play in Philly have anything to do with what I posted? Let me answer that...NOTHING!

Spotella, regarding hollywood's comment about his interaction with Baltimore players and coaches. He typed to me once that he had interaction with Eagles players and when I pushed him on it he admitted riding on an elevator with a player or two at a hotel he was staying at. LOL. He'll probably tell you he either calls up talk radio (big freakin' deal) or make up some lie. Hollywood, want to elaborate on that "interaction" with Ravens?

  • Great yet one more person on the Eagles side talking about another team other than the Eagles. For as much as Wood and Flip claim they aren't like each other, they sure do a lot of the same stuff. Don't get me wrong. I don't think you two are the same person. You guys just do a lot of the same stuff.
  • I talk about the superbowl champions. Its safe to say they are the gold standard right? So if we are measuring our Eagles against the superbowl standard they would be it. Now that we are clear on the ravens being a top notch organization we can use them fro comparison purposes. they have a formula that works. we dont nor do we have any idea what its going to look like. Is it gonna be a gimmick or is it gonna be substantive change. Are we gonna have leadership like Ray Lewis or by a femme like Shady McCoy. it will be interesting
  • You can use them as a comparison if you want to and I'm sure you will...ad nauseum. A few of us have already let you know that we simply don't give a damn (and I haven't really seen anybody seem to care) but that never stopped you in the past.
  • Right now I dont think a Raven would want to play on a Eagle team because they would nauseated by what they would find in philly.
