Nothing like a 1-3 start to kick things off for the season. Maine, actually Raheem Singleton, was the only winner last night. Singleton went off in overtime to help Maine defeat Utah Valley 71-66. It was also Singleton who helped the Black Bears reach overtime. He nailed a game tying jumper within a second of the game ending to force overtime. They will play Maryland in their next game.

Boston fell to Northeastern in a classing New England battle, 66-64. DJ Irving was very impressive, nailing down 14 points, five rebounds and five assists. John Holland continues to show why he is a favorite for the conference POY award, nailing down 25 points.

Cornell defeated UAlbany in a hard fought battle. However, the story is the loss of Mike Black for UA. He had a high ankle sprain and was absent for the entire second half. The team looked completely different with Black not on the floor. However, Luke Devlin had a solid game, finishing one rebound away from a double-double (10 points, 9 rebounds). One positive sign for UA was they did shoot 52% from the field. A solid start for a weak offensive team last season.

Finally, Stony Brook fell to UConn 79-52. It was a bad finish for the Seawolves, who trailed by only eight at the half. However a terrible second half ended things quick. Stony Brook shot only 27% from the field. While watching the game on SNY, you can see that the Huskies were just way to big for the Brookies. However, you got to remember, this is UConn.

Let's hope the conference can rebound today. Three games, including a solid match-up between Vermont and Siena. Let's cross our fingers!
