Making the “Wright” Pick Not often do we in the fantasy football world let a player slip through the cracks on us. Yea sure, sometimes early in the draft season we may overlook a player but he will gain some steam as we get into August or you’ll have a Victor Cruz type player who totally comes out of right field and lights up the preseason. But August is here and Kendall Wright is still being drafted as WR 59 and can be had in the 13th-14th rounds. Wright had a productive rookie year hauling in 64 passes, tying him for the lead among rookies and was also good enough for the 10th most receptions for a rookie since 2002. One knock on Wright would be his very mediocre 9.8ypc his rookie year. Which is rightfully so, coming out of college he was considered to be an explosive player but a poor combine showing and this stat throws that into question. To improve upon this Wright has slimmed down this offseason while focusing on improving his speed and explosion. The early reports out of Titans camp only led us to believe that we could see a big improvement out of Wright in year two. The Nashville Tennessean is reporting that he’s been a standout at Titans camp, and Jim Wyatt says “he looks faster” than he did last year and he’s making “one acrobatic catch after another”. Just to show you the current lack of interest he’s garnering coming into the year, Wrights’  being drafted 3 rounds later (13th) than he was at this time last year (10th). Better yet, according to ADP data collected from FantasyFootballCalculator.com  in the last week Percy Harvin, who looks to be out until late in the season is being drafted ahead of him in both standard & PPR leagues. I’m not saying Wright is going to be a top 15 WR this year, but I don’t think it’s out of the question he ends up in that top 25-30 range making him a nice WR3 play especially in PPR leagues. I look for Wright to be around 75 catches, 850 yards and 6 touchdowns which makes him a HELL of a value in the 13th round. Unless of course, you’d rather look at Percy Harvin on your bench all year.
