Drenched in all kinds of liquids poured out of a beat-up bucket that teammates conjured up in the clubhouse, Tom Koehler never felt better as a major league pitcher. Pinch hitter Marcell Ozuna's two-run single gave Koehler his first victory in nine career starts, and the Miami Marlins rallied past the San Francisco Giants 2-1 Thursday night. ''I smell like a bar,'' Koehler said. ''Other than the day I met my wife, this is probably the happiest moment of my life. Definitely the happiest baseball moment.'' In his first career pinch-hit appearance, Ozuna's line drive to right field in the eighth inning off reliever Jeremy Affeldt (1-3) ended Koehler's run of futility. After six appearances in the bullpen, Koehler (1-5) had been winless in seven starts this season - and took the loss in his lone start last year - for the worst team in the majors. He hugged Ozuna in the dugout following the hit that flipped the score. Koehler also had the g...

SF Giants Rumors: Angel Pagan Injured Again, Barry Zito’s Father Passes Away

Photo by Marko Realmonte (GiantsInTheYard.com) Last night’s loss to the Marlins was bad news, but it wasn’t as bad as hearing that San Francisco Giants outfielder Angel Pagan had to be carted off the field in Stockton. I’m not sure the extent of his injury, but I don’t see him coming back anytime soon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Barry Zito and his family. Zito’s...

SF Giants lineup: Crawford out again, in fact all Brandons on bench

Before the 2012 season I invented a segment for our blog/podcast called “Brandon Watch”, based on the premise that the Giants could be successful if their young (and cheap) position players performed at the level of major-league caliber starters. What followed was a great defensive season from Brandon Crawford and a really nice all-around performance by Brandon Belt. There will...

Tempers flared Wednesday at AT&T Park as the rival Padres and Giants got into a skirmish after Madison Bumgarner threw a pitch that went behind Jesus Guzman, resulting in the benches clearing. Giants Still Can’t Stop Marlins in 6-3 Loss

Tim Lincecum struck out eight in his fourth consecutive quality start, but it wasn’t enough as the Miami Marlins beat the San Francisco Giants 6-3 on Friday night. There have already been reports of the Marlins beginning to shop Ricky Nolasco, but if he was auditioning for a spot in the Giants rotation, it didn’t go too well. After going 4-0 with an 0.87 ERA in his four starts...
