When discussing the Miami Marlins offseason trade rumors, the first name you hear of is Giancarlo Stanton. As I just wrote, the Marlins are not making Stanton available for trade. The teams offseason plan is to acquire a power hitter and have two guys they are monitoring. The Marlins have discussed both Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks and Angels first baseman/outfielder Mark Trumbo with their scouts, Marlins general manager Dan Jennings told Jim Bowden in an interview on SiriusXM. Last season, the Marlins desperately needed another big bat to pair with Giancarlo Stanton and are now trying to fill that need. Trumbo is said to be available for trade in a potential deal for pitching. Rotoworld.com says that the Red Sox could deal Middlebrooks if they decide to move promising shortstop Xander Bogaerts to third base. Trumbo hit .234 with 34 home runs and 100 RBI’s. The 27-year old Trumbo has hit a combined 95 home runs the past three seasons and would provide a big power upgrade in the Marlins lineup. Middlebrooks hit .227 with 17 home runs and 49 RBI’s. Still only 25-years old, has a promising future ahead of him, but his future may not be in Boston. While Middlebrooks isn’t the power hitter that Trumbo is, he still would help boost the Marlins lineup. Follow Robert on Twitter @RobertMurrayMLB

Are the Miami Marlins interested in a potential Will Middlebrooks trade

Scott Levesque (@scottlevesque) Managing Editor There's always a wild card trade in the offseason and this year that trade could circulate around Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks. Middlebrooks was the subject of numerous trade rumors towards the end of the 2013 trade deadline, but the Red Sox were steadfast in their denial of moving the young third baseman. Perhaps...

2013 Offseason Primer: Miami Marlins

The Marlins won the winter following the 2011 season. Last winter, they clearly did not, trading nearly every player of consequence on their team between the All-Star Break and Christmas. This winter, the Marlins seem to have more of a plan in place. They've got a young core, and there's really only one player on their team that will likely draw a lot of interest in the trade...

Will Middlebrooks Chops Off Beard, Goes Clean-Shaven for Offseason (Photo)

Will Middlebrooks has become the latest to join the clean-shaven club. The young third baseman, whose beard had become surprisingly respectable by the end of the Red Sox’ run to the World Series, did away with his facial hair on Monday, shortly after teammates David Ortiz and Shane Victorino did the same. It wasn’t a complete shave, though — he did decide to hold onto the soul...

Will Middlebrooks manscapes and I almost lose my frickin' mind

Scott Levesque (@scottlevesque) Managing Editor Have you ever experienced one of those moment where you read something and a song instantly crashing into your brain like a 4-year old learning how to ride a bike for the first time? I'm not sure if that word-picture fully describes just how annoying those moments are - especially when you want that frickin' song out of your...

Mets Don’t Love Mark Trumbo

I don’t know about most of you, but a few of us on MMO let out a collective sigh of relief when we read the following from Andy Martino of the Daily News: The Mets don’t love Mark Trumbo and they’ve never shown any interest in Peter Bourjos. I see Trumbo as an Ike Davis with more consistent power, but a worse glove. I couldn’t imagine giving up a Jon Niese for someone like...

Ben Cherington Says Red Sox View Will Middlebrooks as Third Baseman, Not Ready to Consider Move to First Base
