On Sunday, the New Jersey Devils made waves when they acquired netminder Cory Schneider from Vancouver, igniting an instant goaltending controversy in Newark. With future Hall of Famer Martin Brodeur and backup Johan Hedburg already in place, something needs to give. When Brodeur strolled to the podium to announce the Devils’ seventh-round draft selection Sunday, he was set to select yet another goalie. However, despite the crowded situation in goal, the 41-year-old probably isn’t too perturbed by the team’s pick. The Devils took Anthony Brodeur, Martin’s son, with the 208th overall pick. Like his father, Anthony Brodeur is a goaltender, out of Shattuck St. Mary’s prep school in Minnesota. The 18-year-old is set to play for Gatineau of the QMJHL next season. Check some images of Anthony Brodeur — on Sunday and as a youngster — with his father in the tweets below.
