The Iowa Hawkeyes are now up to 11 known verbal commitments with the verbal of New Jersey DR Terrence Harris.
He is 6-3/250 and is not rated by Scout.com at this time. He had offers from Florida Atlantic, UMass and Western Michigan at the time of his verbal, according to Scout. Rob Howe pointed out in a premium article that Harris’s Iowa recruiter Chris White has now gotten three players to verbal to Iowa without having visited campus. You may see that happen once a recruiting class but typically not three and not all from the same coach.
Iowa has roughly 15 scholarships available in this class, so most of the hay is in the barn. However, there are typically a few defections during any year so it remains to be seen just how many players will wind up signing with Iowa come the first Wednesday in February.
WHITE CLOSES STRONG
Team USA won their World University Games Finale 97-70 yesterday, finishing in 9th place and 6-2 overall. Iowa forward Aaron White had 12 points and 10 boards in 20 minutes of action.
For the entire tournament, White averaged 6.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 15.4 minutes per game. White was 10 of 17 from the free throw line, below 60% and below his career average. You can see the cumulative statistics at this link.
White will return to Iowa in plenty of time to shake off the jetlag and get ready to head back overseas with his teammates in mid-August as the Hawkeyes are set to tip off a European tour.
