@AdamSchefter yeah, because my signature has changed. Duhhhh #thanksforthecommentaryAdam — Matthew Barkley (@MattBarkley) June 13, 2013 On Thursday, Adam Schefter reported that Matt Barkley had signed his contract with the Philadelphia Eagles and rather than just report the signing, he decided to add some commentary to it.  Schefter noted that the contract was very different than the one people expected him to sign a year ago when people thought Barkley was a lock for the first overall pick in 2013.  Matt Barkley took the comments in stride and responded with his own comical remarks.  Barkley has had to hear a lot about how he ruined his draft stock staying in school for one more year, but Barkley doesn’t appear to be bothered by it and has done a very good job playing it off with jokes such as this one.

Philadelphia Eagles sign QB Matt Barkley to four year deal

Matt Barkley was taken by the Eagles in the fourth round, but was projected as more of a late first-round or second-round guy. He was also rated by as the second-best quarterback in the NFL Draft. Except he went much later than that, as the Eagles drafted him with the first pick of the fourth round (98th overall).  Barkley could have come out of school after his...

Matt Barkley with a great response to Adam Schefter

One year ago, Matt Barkley probably would have been inking a multi-year deal worth millions more than the 4-year deal he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday. Many expected him to be not only a first-round pick, but to challenge Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III as the first QB taken in the NFL Draft. But, that’t not what happened, as Barkley returned for a his senior...

Matt Barkley does not care for Adam Schefter’s commentary about his contract

If this whole football thing doesn’t work out for Matt Barkley, the kid could have a future in sports blogging. Why? Because he has the whole snarky act down perfectly. ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter tweeted on Thursday that Barkley signed a four-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. But Schefter’s tweet included more than just [...]

Eagles, Barkley agree to 4-year deal

Quarterback Matt Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed on a four-year contract. Barkley was selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft after a standout career at Southern California. The move announced Thursday leaves only one draft pick unsigned. Barkley rewrote the conference record book during a USC-record 47 starts over four seasons, becoming the Pac-12's leader...

Adam Schefter and Matt Barkley jab each other on Twitter

The Philadelphia Eagles signed fourth-round pick Matt Barkley to a four year contract on Thursday. After being projected to be a top ten (or better) pick if he left USC for the 2012 Draft, Barkley's stock plummeted after a disappointing senior season at USC. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the signing, with a little dig that the contract wasn't similar to the one Barkley...
