Matt Light was one of the best at being a tightlipped Patriot during his time in New England, from postgame comments to his weekly radio appearances. So it made sense that he may have wanted to throw off the shackles after his playing days were done, which he appeared to do when he commented on the Aaron Hernandez situation shortly after the tight end was charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd. But now Light says he never made such comments, and — current Patriot or not — he won’t be. He denied ever talking about Hernandez on Toucher and Rich on Wednesday. “I was in the woods for two weeks at the time working with young people through the foundation,” Light said of when the Dayton Daily News article was written, according to CBS Local. “… I can honestly tell you that, two weeks in the woods, none of that time involved talking to a reporter about that situation that played out earlier this year.” In the article, reporter Tom Archdeacon wrote that Light’s demeanor changed when he was asked about Hernandez. Archdeacon said Light paused “for several seconds” before offering what would become a widely circulated quote. “I never talk about other guys,” Light said then, according to the article, “but I will say I have never embraced — never believed in — anything Aaron Hernandez stood for.” Light is now saying that interaction didn’t happen, at least not in the way it was portrayed. “At the end of the day, I don’t comment on that stuff, and I never will,” he said. “It’s not my place. … I wasn’t asked about it. I was in the woods at the time.” Photo via Twitter/@MikeLowePPH Filed under: Headlines, Jen Slothower, New England Patriots
