One of Texas A&M's most hyped freshmen may have already played his last down of 2013. The Aggies are exploring the option of a medical redshirt for Ricky Seals-Jones, the nation's No. 1 wide receiver in the 2013 recruiting class. Jones caught a 71-yard touchdown pass against Rice in Texas A&M's season opener, but sat the following week after suffering a knee injury. He played sparingly in last week's loss to Alabama. On his radio show Tuesday, coach Kevin Sumlin said the possibility of a medical redshirt is an "ongoing discussion." "We're going to do what's best for him," Sumlin told host Dave South. "He's injured and he tried to go a little bit on Saturday and it's still not right." Players must appear in three or fewer of a team's scheduled games to remain eligible for a medical redshirt. Seals-Jones has played in just two for Texas A&M. If granted a medical redshirt, Seals-Jones would retain his year of eligibility and still have four remaining after the season. We're doing everything that's right for him because he is a special talent," Sumlin said. "For him to lose a year if something is not correct and he's not comfortable ... we're not going to do that." Seals-Jones, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound native of Sealy, Texas, has caught three passes for 84 yards on the season.

Report: Many NFL teams consider Johnny Manziel to be 'undraftable'

Johnny Manziel’s talent is undeniable. Texas A&M lost to Alabama on Saturday thanks in part to Manziel’s crucial interception in the end zone, but he managed to throw for 464 yards and five touchdowns against the two-time defending national champions. He also added 98 yards rushing. Oh yeah, and he became the first freshman ever […]

Many teams consider Johnny Manziel ‘undraftable’

The first freshman to win a Heisman trophy will be eligible for the NFL draft at the end of this season. Johnny Manziel put up over 550 total yards and 5 TDs against one of the best defenses in the country last week. However with his eye-popping stats and credentials many scouts find him undraftable. Manziel leaves a lot to be desired in terms of measurable statistics and mechanics...

Why the NCAA is not only wrong, but criminal

College athletics have been one of America’s pastimes for more than a century, and some of the greatest moments of American sports have come as a result. Who can forget Kevin Moen plowing over a Stanford University tuba player en route to the end zone after five laterals? Or what about Doug Flutie’s Hail Mary in the final seconds that propelled Boston College to victory against...

Texas A&M shifts focus to SMU

Texas A&M has heard enough of the game of the year talk surrounding last Saturday's 49-42 loss to top-ranked Alabama. The Aggies (2-1) have turned the page and are now focusing on the final nine games of the season, starting with SMU (1-1). "A lot's been said about last weekend," Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin said. "It was a heck of a football...

Texas A&M Wide Receiver Rickie Seals-Jones Having Surgery Friday

There have been some questions about freshman wide receiver Rickie Seals-Jones the last couple weeks. After starting the season with a bang by catching a 72-yard touchdown pass from Matt Joeckel he hasn't been seen. @RickieSealsJones/Twitter As it turns out he has had some knee problems. Early Wednesday the coaching staff had talked about a possible medical red shirt...

NFL executives reportedly believe Kevin Sumlin ‘is a star’

On Monday, I wrote about how both Kevin Sumlin and Johnny Manziel won despite Texas A&M losing to Alabama on Saturday. Mainly because the way the two handled themselves against the closest thing to a NFL team in college football. While there dividends from the game aren’t paying off Manziel quite yet, they are definitely paying off for Sumlin according to Mike Freeman of Bleacher...

Report: Texas A&M Is Considering Potential Medical Redshirt For WR Ricky Seals-Jones

Photo via @brybboone When Ricky Seals-Jones announced his commitment to Texas A&M, there was a lot of hype that came along with it — he was one of the most sought after recruits in the country. In fact, his parents reportedly refused upwards of $600k for his commitment (obviously would have been a MAJOR NCAA violation). In limited plays so far this season, Seals-Jones has lived...

Even in a loss to Alabama, Johnny Manziel and Kevin Sumlin won

After Saturday’s game between Alabama and Texas A&M, three things were clear: Alabama is now two games – LSU and SEC Championship game – from playing for their third National Championship. Johnny Manziel is the best offensive player in the nation. Kevin Sumlin deserves a seat at the table of best coaches in college football. The first point from that list was a direct...

No. 10 Texas A&M hosts former SWC foe SMU

No. 10 Texas A&M's defense knows they need to tighten things up. While the offense ranks third in the nation in total yards, the defense has struggled and is allowing more yards than all but 10 teams in the nation (489 yards per game). The unit was back to full strength for the first time this season last week against Alabama after missing players to suspensions in the...
