Facing record breaking temperatures in Milwaukee, the Miami Marlins shut the Brewers out 4-0 on Thursday.   The temperature hit 102 degrees at one point and Mark Buehrle threw 105 pitches in the sweltering heat.   The win was the second in a row for Miami and came on the day that Carlos Lee made his debut picking up a pair of hits.

Buehrle struck out eight while improving to 8-8 on the season in his seven and two third innings.   The veteran lefty battled the elements while walking none and allowing six hits.   In his last inning of work, Buehrle was visibly exhausted from the long outing in the high temperatures.   Steve Cishek came in to finish off the eighth inning retiring the only batter he faced.   In the ninth, Randy Choate started the inning with the Marlins up four but was lifted after hitting the only batter he faced.  Heath Bell entered and quickly retired three while striking out one.  It wasn’t a save opportunity for the Marlins’ closer but it was another effective outing following his save a day earlier.

Lee who started in the three spot of the lineup doubled and scored a run while playing a key role in the Marlins’ victory.   Logan Morrison brought home Lee as well as Hanley Ramirez to pick up two runs batted in.   In the ninth, Greg Dobbs hit a pinch-hit two run home run, his second blast of the season to double the Marlins’ lead.

The Marlins will start a series in St. Louis on Friday with Ricky Nolasco scheduled to oppose Jake Westbrook.
