On Wednesday, it was announced Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler (pictured) will put his strap up for grabs against Dave Jansen on June 19. WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma serves as host. Chandler owns a spotless 11-0 record, with all but his first two pro fights coming under Bellator’s watch. He submitted Rick Hawn in January to notch his first title defense. “I’m excited to get back in the cage and defend the belt against a tough guy like Jansen,” Chandler said. “He’s proven to be a very tough and durable competitor. My plan is the same as every fight, which is to show up new and improved and collect another dominant finish for the fans.” Jansen will be riding a six-fight winning streak into the biggest bout of his life. He took Bellator’s Season 7 lightweight tournament to earn next dibs. Also, a pair of light heavyweight tourney bouts will take place in the event. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal meets Seth Petruzelli, while Renato “Babalu” Sobral battles Jacob Noe. In addition, a welterweight affair between War Machine and Blas Avena was confirmed for the lineup. Spike TV broadcasts the main card beginning at 7PM ET.
