This isn’t quite Harvard-We Suck levels of pranking but a group of Michigan students tried their hand at irking one of their gridiron rivals.

Early Wednesday morning a group of eight students traveled from Ann Arbor, MI to South Bend, IN and placed a blue banner reading “Beat the Irish” on one of the Notre Dame Stadium gates.  According to MichiganDaily.com, the students claimed they had little trouble sneaking onto the campus and near the stadium.  Here is one of the prankster’s accounts of how things went down:

“The ironic part is that there were some Notre Dame students camped out on the other side of the stadium to protect it, but we came through the campus rather than from the road, so they didn’t see us coming…”

“The hardest part was making sure there was no one around … when we went to put up the banner, because there was absolutely no cover to hide behind as we hung it, and it is directly across from one of the main campus libraries.”

This is pretty tame and none of this will matter when the game starts Saturday but I’m hoping this leads to a game of one-upsmanship for the next few years between the two schools.  Maybe Notre Dame undergrads can place a giant Touchdown Jesus bobblehead in front of the Big House next year.

Giant Touchdown Jesus bobblehead anyone?
