The legendary and geriatric rock band the Rolling Stones played the Staples Center, the home of the Lakers, earlier this month and brought the house down like they have for decades. While he was busy rocking out the 69-year old lead singer, Mick Jagger, decided to express an opinion on the home team. He called them old. His exact words were actually: "The only reason we're here is to make the Lakers look younger." Ouch! But in the realm of professional sports he has a point. Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash are definitely in the twilight of their careers and Metta World Peace is not far behind. Pau Gasol's career his half over (at least); he's 32. Now Dwight Howard is still a young pup, but there is no telling if he'll be in LA next season. The easy rebuttal to Mr. Jagger's jab would be to make some sort of age-related comment about him and/or the rest of the band. Then again Mick's moves are still so good that a song was writte...

Metta World Peace’s children’s book released, has weird cover (photo)

The release of Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace’s highly anticipated children’s book finally happened on May 20. The book, entitled, Metta’s Bedtime Stories, retails for $12.95 with some of the proceeds benefiting the NBA star’s charity, Xcel University. But perhaps the most compelling aspect of Metta World Peace’s children’s book above and beyond [...]The...

Jackson: Lakers Won't Forcus On Inside Game With D'Antoni

When told an inside approach will not occur with Mike D'Antoni coaching the Los Angeles Lakers, Phil Jackson agreed. "You're right," Jackson said. "They picked the path to go on and they think that's the future of the NBA and we'll see. We'll see if it is." In Jackson's mind, the Lakers must make the inside game a major facet of their game...

With every tweet Kobe Bryant inches towards becoming a Twitter master

Since joining Twitter on January 4, 2013, Kobe Bryant has, at times, dominated the social media site like he dominates on the basketball court. Now that he’s got a little more free time on his hands, Kobe has stepped up his Twitter game if you can believe it, as evidenced by this response to a follower’s request for a reply from the Lakers’ superstar that is nothing short of...

Even Mick Jagger Is Making Fun Of How Old The Lakers Are

The Rolling Stones started their latest tour in Los Angeles this past week, and while playing Staples they took a little jab at the tenants in yellow and purple. The Stones, who are a bit long in the tooth now, kicked off their ’50 and Counting Tour’ in front of a packed house and performed 23 songs.  During a quick break Mick went in on the Lakers while also dropping a little...

Former Phoenix Suns star Steve Nash is fighting to keep his ex-wife and three children from moving to California, where he now plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Arizona Republic reports Nash and Alejandra Amarilla Menrath divorced in late 2011 and their settlement doesn't include child support. The couple has a young son and twin 8-year-old daughters. Nash pays for the...

Kobe Injury Update, Via Kobe

Kobe Bryant updated his injury status today, and it’s good news for all you LA fans out there. “Boot comes off today. Will be in a ‘medical mamba’ shoe. I still need a lil heel lift for the achillies.” Fantastic news, and really ironic. The Lakers hope Kobe’s contract comes off their books. That’d be a win win, wouldn’t it Kobe Ties Malone Phil On Kobe Vs Jordan

Earlier this week, a children’s book authored by Metta called, “Metta’s Bedtime Stories” became available on our fair Interwebs to buy for your kids/nieces/or nephews. Phil Jackson ‘Bothered’ By The Way Mike D’Antoni Utilized Lakers Players

While on tour promoting his book, Eleven Rings, Phil Jackson spoke with ESPN radio’s Colin Cowherd and expressed his displeasure with the way Mike D’Antoni utilized his top players in Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard this past season. According to Mark Medina: “It bothers me about the individuals,” Jackson said. “It bothers me that Pau had a season where he had...

Houston Rockets Making Room For Dwight Howard

It's unknown whether or not if Dwight Howard will stay or leave the Los Angeles Lakers during the offseason, but the Houston Rockets are already preparing for the arrival of Howard, as the team is preparing to trade away players to make room for the All-Star center. The team is ready to ship out Thomas Robinson in order to create enough cap space to offer Howard the maximum contract...

Rockets Want to Trade Thomas Robinson, So They Can Make a Run at Dwight Howard

I could be wrong, but I believe that Dwight Howard simply can’t handle the spotlight of being on the Los Angeles Lakers and will sign with another team. No one should slam him for it, because it is his contractual right as a free agent to go wherever he wants. Houston also might be the best basketball destination for him, so I wouldn’t be shocked if he signed there. The Rockets...

Stan Van Gundy: Roy Hibbert Doesn’t Hold A Candle To Dwight Howard

The enigma that is Dwight Howard just suffered through one of the most draining and personally difficult seasons he’s ever had to deal with. A lot of Howard’s struggles were due in part to him being sensitive and unable to mesh with Kobe Bryant.  Those struggles have caused many a pundit and so-called expert to question if Howard is still the premiere big man in the NBA. Many...
