PLAYERS: Mike Ilitch
TEAMS: Detroit Red Wings
In what’s becoming a common practice by the NHL’s owners after allowing a second lockout to take place in the last 10 years, Red Wings boss Mike Ilitch has issued an apology to the fans on behalf of the organization. You can find the apology when going to DetroitRedWings.com but we’ve also included it below: Dear Red Wings Fans, In our now 30 years of owning the Red Wings franchise, we have experienced many ups and downs. No situation is more frustrating, though, than working through the process of establishing a new collective bargaining agreement. We join the rest of our organization today in thanking fans of Hockeytown for your patience over the last few months. We are sorry for the delay in starting the season and the unfortunate public nature of the negotiations. Thankfully, with this new deal, we will be assured of a settled labor environment for many years to come. We recognize that no team excels like this one has without incredible fan support. And we understand the special...

Pavel Datsyuk made the decision to participate in the KHL All Star weekend instead of returning to the U.S. right away to get ready for the Red Wings training camp.  At first I was worried, but he doesn’t need training camp.  These moves just continue to show that he is in mid-season form and his performances in the KHL have been awesome.  I can’t wait to see him back in a...

Red Wings Friday practice and gnus round-up post

Updated at 3:57 PM with Darren Helm having "tweaked something": So I've been gone for a while, but I'm back. One does not take a three-month hiatus from covering a sport they love for an extended period of time without extenuating circumstances occurring, and all I can offer you is the plain old truth: a nasty virus abated in October, but was followed by a severe...

Red Wings overnight report: today, the Wings begin to ‘answer questions’ in more ways than one

Like everything else that transpired over the course of the NHL's third and most unnecessary lockout, things went ass-backwards on Saturday, and involved a delay that could only involve lawyers trying to rack up as many billable hours as possible. First came the CBA's ratification (with more than a few abstentions) by the NHLPA, and, late on Saturday evening, the NHL and...
