Milan Lucic knows a thing or two about beards. Several recent playoff runs have given the bruising forward the opportunity to grow some serious facial hair, and playing with such accomplished beard-wearers like Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron has heightened Lucic’s ability to spot a good beard in the wild. While the Bruins hope to be growing more beards in the spring, they’re still months away from the postseason. The Red Sox, however, are right in the middle of a playoff run and are rocking some playoff-caliber beards. What does Lucic think of the Sox’ facial accessories? Mostly positive things, it turns out. Lucic had high praise for the chin warmers of Dustin Pedroia, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Johnny Gomes and Mike Napoli — whose beard Lucic lauded as “a perfect 10″ — but when the discussion turned to Clay Buchholz and the Red Sox’ pitching staff, Lucic had to call it like he sees it. “I guess you could say the pitchers a lacking a little bit,” Lucic said. “It looks just like Torey Krug, but good effort.  A for effort.” Lucic wished the Sox good luck in their ALCS matchup against the Detroit Tigers and Game 2 starter Buchholz has until then to up his beard game. Check out the video of Lucic’s critiquing the beards below. Filed under: Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, Headlines, Offbeat, Owen Ziegler, Video
