Former mistress of disgraced steroid abusing MLB veteran pitcher Roger Clemens Mindy McCready was found dead Sunday. Actually, it was a Mindy McCready suicide. According to E! News, McCready shot herself and her dog (her dog? seriously why?). The Associated Press reports that her body was found 4pm Sunday on the front porch of her home in Heber Springs, Arkansas, after neighbors heard gunshots and called the police. Mindy McCready suicide attempts had happened before. There were at least 2 (2005 and 2008), maybe 3 before she finally went through with it. McCready had a relationship with Clemens for many years, beginning when she was just 16 years old. However, she claims the relationship didn’t turn sexual until much later. She was once a country music star but that seems like ages ago because her personal and psychological problems tore her music career apart. Alcohol, prescription drug abuse, problems with out of wedlock children, a dead dog- her obituary has all the saddest of sad country song stereotypes attached to it. The 37 year old Mindy McCready leaves behind two children, 6-year-old Zander and 9-month-old Zayne. This Mindy McCready suicide comes off the heels of the death of her baby daddy, songwriter David Wilson which is still under investigation, and might be ruled a suicide. McCready was questioned in the investigation. I don’t think Roger Clemens was. McCready’s death follows a recent release from an inpatient rehab program and her children having been removed from her home. A petition filed by Tim McCready, her father, articulated the serious issues in her life- alcoholism, prescription drug abuse, sleeping long hours and staying in bed all day. Paul M.
