Nose tackle Anthony Adams doesn’t think he’ll get a second chance as a lead blocker after failing to report as an eligible receiver last week when he came in to play fullback in a short-yardage situation. It cost the Bears a five-yard penalty.
“I blew my chance,” Adams said. “I was rushing. I was trying to get on the field and see what the play was. There wasn’t a lot of time left, but it’s on me.”
After offensive coordinator Ron Turner dropped off an envelope in his locker, Adams joked: “They’re probably docking my pay after that penalty.”
Adams had more success in the fullback role when he was with the 49ers, occasionally leading the way for Frank Gore in 2005 and ‘06.
