Many people think “spring break” or NASCAR racing when the city of Daytona Beach is mentioned. This Saturday and Sunday, however, the popular Florida area will be hosting a 16-team slow pitch softball tournament with a very unique grand prize awarded the following weekend.
The winner of the amateur competition, called “Brawl at the Beach” will get to face a team of Major League Baseball players in a charity softball game on Saturday, December 8.
The big winner will be the needy as proceeds from the tournament, charity softball game and a Friday night home run derby will benefit St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina‘s Foundation 4, a charitable foundation that supports various causes.
Scheduled to join Molina and his catching brothers Bengie and Jose in the charity game are a host of his Cardinals teammates. They include outfielder Carlos Beltran, shortstop Rafael Furcal, closer Jason Motte, outfielder Jon Jay and catcher Tony Cruz, according to tournament director Danny Ac...
